Outspoken, individual and unique. Oi! has recognised that teenagers
have strong opinions,
amazing ideals and fantastic ambitions. However, as
you can see from Gary’s introduction, the
content isn’t based around adult
journalists guessing at what teenagers want to read – Oi! has been created
as a structured
educational venture that allows teenagers to tell us themselves.
By giving teens the opportunity
to create their own dialogue with the outside world, the frustration of not being heard effectively vanishes. The power of
this alternative model is that it is exactly this ‘real’ business input that creates relevance and ownership for
young people. From SMEs to big corporations - listening to the vision and idealism of our teens might just create a different
way of doing things.
Oi! is a commercial project, subject to commercial rules, that has
its basis in educational principles. The aim is that the project will pay for itself, with any profits being fed straight
back, with the eventual aim being that any surplus will fund a range of media scholarships for young people.
